“Stimulating Intellectual Development – Examples of Good

Practice”

On Saturday, December 7, Mensa Serbia, the Creative Teachers association and the Institute for Contemporary Education hosted a panel entitled “Stimulating Intellectual Development – Examples of Good Practice”. The aim was to present the top 30 papers in the international project Intelligence Day 2019.

Our colleagues attended lectures given by renowned experts including: Goran Vilotijević, who holds a PhD in educational sciences, Momčilo Stepanović (MSc in Education), independent educational advisor and founder of the Creative Teachers association, Marinela Šćepanović, chairman of the Board at the Society of Special Educators and Rehabilitators of Vojvodina with a master’s degree in Special Education and Rehabilitation, and Ljiljana Lazarević, teacher and recipient of the Best Educator in Serbia award for 2019. 

On behalf of Mensa Serbia, the attendees were greeted by president Aleksandra Borović, who stated how proud she was of the fact that so many teachers agreed to present their models for stimulating the intellectual abilities of students. The panel moderator was the author and coordinator of the Intelligence Day project, educational advisor and teacher Tanja Olear Gojić. On behalf of ICE, MSc Aleksandra Ikonov, an associate at the institute, thanked the attendees for their participation in the project and in the panel. Aleksandra expressed her pleasure for seeing so many colleagues who are eager to introduce innovation, encourage their students and build an inspiring environment for their own advancement and that of the students.

The theme and program of the panel brought together numerous educators working in different educational stages, from kindergarten to higher education, proving that the most important factors for personal and professional success are continuous work, active learning, a healthy interpersonal interaction and constructivism in education.
