Science team of LEA Institute for Contemporary Education at 18th International May Conference on Strategic Management – IMCSM22 

 

The science team of the LEA Institute for Contemporary Education presented two scientific papers which generated quite a buzz at the International May Conference on Strategic Management – IMCSM22, which was held between May 27 and May 29. The leading conference in the field of general management was held via the Zoom web conference platform this year, and organised by the Department of Management of the Technical Faculty in Bor, member of the University of Belgrade.

 

The paper entitled Erasmus+ projects in Serbian educational institutions: LINK Educational Alliance case study was prepared by some of the researchers from the Institute for Contemporary Education’s Centre for Scientific Research and Publishing: Valentin Kuleto, President of the Institute for Contemporary Education, Milena Ilić, Director of the Centre for Scientific Research and Publishing, Nina Stojanović, Director of the Institute for Contemporary Education’s Project Centre, and Dina Daniel Gabriel and Larisa Mihoreanu, associates and teachers at the Faculty of Contemporary Arts (FCA) and Information Technology School (ITS).

The research is based on the case study method, and LINK edu Alliance participation in the Erasmus+ program, which is very significant both for individuals, and for institutions.  Participation in this program brings various benefits, such as: improving the knowledge of foreign languages, communication and IT skills, developing teamwork skills and creative thinking, as well as strengthening one’s capacity for decision making. The program promotes knowledge transfer and networking across cultures and generations. The general aim of the program is promoting sustainable development, quality jobs, social cohesion, innovation and lifelong learning, and the same goals are shared by the LINK edi Alliance, which brings us even closer to the Erasmus+ program.   

The research proves that student mobility increases their chances of finding employment, as well as that many Erasmus+ alumni often occupy managerial positions. 

 

The second scientific paper – Working activity composition for K-12 teachers in LINK Educational Alliance, Exploratory research regarding observed teacher’s workload and projected distribution – generated quite a buzz at the conference. The paper is the result of research on the project LINK Edu Alliance K-12 teacher working hours activity composition and AI based improvement possibilities organised by our Alliance at the beginning of the year. Some of the researchers from the Institute for Contemporary Education who participated in the development of this paper include: Valentin Kuleto, President of the Institute for Contemporary Education, Milena Ilić, Director of the Center for Scientific Research and Publishing, Roskana Buk Mane Tonis and Dan Paun, teachers at the Faculty of Contemporary Arts and Information Technology School, as well as Zorana Živanović, Principal of  International School.

 

The paper emphasises the importance of increasing the quality of the teaching workforce, to raise the educational standard. The first step in achieving this goal is identifying factors that contribute to teachers’ workload. Managing teacher performance is crucial for achieving the goals and objectives of high-quality educational standards. 

The research was organised based on the chosen model: content analysis was performed, and a solid theoretical background was created. Before implementing the model, a survey was applied to K-12 teachers of LINK Educational Alliance. Survey was used as a testing method in the research, whereas an online questionnaire was used as a data collection method.  In addition, observation (with participation), induction, deduction and statistical methods (descriptive statistics) were used. The survey method was used to specify significant components of the K-12 teachers’ workload. The survey conducted on an adequate and representative sample – teachers of LINK edu Alliance – preceded a larger one, a nationwide survey.  Results showed that K-12 teachers from the observed educational alliance possess genuine knowledge about AI. Regarding the analysis of working hours composition, i.e. the review of current practices of LEA teachers, the analysis is based on the mean value calculated based on answers that had a normal distribution that LEA teachers have their opinion based on projected – wanted working hours composition. There is always room to increase teacher efficiency by conducting work activities in optimal ways. Once the composition of the teacher activity is identified, productivity gaps must be uncovered and potential segments for improvement and automatisation of the components, it is stated in the scientific paper of LEA researchers. 

 

Scientific research that resulted in the promotion of the two scientific papers mentioned above was conducted within the Centre for Scientific Research and Publishing of the LINK edu Alliance’s Institute for Contemporary Education. 

 

They attracted a lot of attention, primarily because they cover important segments of education. 

 

All papers accepted for presentation at IMCSM22 are published in the IMCSM22 Book of Abstracts, while full versions will be published in the IMCSM22 Conference Proceedings.

 

By presenting these papers, the Institute for Contemporary Education continues to introduce changes into the future of education.
