A successfully held discussion at the Institute for Contemporary Education
Organized by the Career Development Center of the Institute for Contemporary Education, a discussion on the topic “Summarising impressions from online teaching – looking back and looking forward” was held on Sunday, May 29, 2022.
The number of participants was limited due to the interaction and higher quality of the discussion. The discussion was led by Selena Vračar, PhD student at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade – Department of Psychology.
The discussion started with the teachers recalling the moments when they received the notice that due to the epidemic, it is necessary to switch to online teaching. They talked about their preparedness, training and readiness of the school system to move to a new way of working.
During this discussion, we learned that the teachers worked all day. They revealed to us how they coped with students who did not attend lessons and they also talked about their experiences with parents and colleagues. While they were passing on new knowledge to the students, they themselves had to learn and master new ways of working in order for the teaching to be carried out successfully.
The challenges were different, but what they all have in common is great enthusiasm and the desire to keep classes going and for the students not to suffer because of the circumstances in which we all found ourselves.
The discussion was started with the idea of giving teachers another opportunity where their voices will be heard so that we can develop activities in a direction that is important to them.
