Circular STEM – Boosting Circular Economy Competences for STEM Teachers
Institute for Contemporary Education is pleased to announce a new project aimed at developing an innovative methodology for training STEM teachers to introduce circular economy (CE) competencies into the school curriculum. The project will use an entrepreneurial approach to education and digital skills to support the professional development of teachers and achieve the integration of digital tools, circular economy and entrepreneurial skills into the school curriculum.
The project will focus on students aged 13–18, and the training methodology will be based on a student-centered approach (methodology that implies that students are not passive observers, but active participants in the teaching process), in order to stimulate their active participation in the classroom activities using digital tools.
The training content will be developed based on real-world challenges and consolidated through pilot activities organized by partner schools.
The project will also create an e-learning platform called CIRCULAR STEM Academy, where all the results of the project will be located, as well as a Tool Kit that will contain additional online and offline resources to support the methodology and content of the training.
This project will be carried out by ICE in collaboration with partner organizations, including:
- Agrupamento de Escolas de Frazão, Paços de Ferreira, High School in Frazão, Portugal;
- European Digital Learning Network, European Network in Milan, Italy;
- POLITEKNIKA IKASTEGIA TXORIERRI S.COOP, High School in Derio, Spain;
- EKONOMIKAS UN KULTURAS AUGSTSKOLA, High School in Riga, Latvia;
- EIT RawMaterials, Berlin, Germany.
This project has great potential to transform the way we educate our students and improve the quality of STEM education, as well as support the development of entrepreneurial skills and digital literacy. With partners who share our goals and vision, we have the opportunity to create innovative approaches to education and to develop methodologies that will have a positive impact on our students, teachers and schools.
With the enthusiasm and commitment of the whole team, we have no doubts about the success of this project and we can’t wait to start working together.
