The lecture on emotional intelligence attracted a large number of colleagues
A lecture was held on Friday, March 18, 2022, at the Institute for Contemporary Education, and it aroused the great interest of teachers. Zvonimirka Jovičić, who has a Master’s degree in Teaching Methodology of Mathematics and is a pedagogical adviser, shared with her colleagues the examples from her practice that showed good results in working with students.
Through characters from literary works, the students were confronted with different emotions and ways of reacting. Also, they learned how to develop empathy, become aware of the importance of gratitude and get to know its positive sides.
An important segment of the lecture was devoted to the understanding of time and the importance of good time management. Students learned to prioritize and organize their responsibilities in order to successfully complete homework assignments on time.
It was pointed out in the lecture that the topic of emotional intelligence can be woven through every subject and that it depends only on the will of the teacher in what way and how successfully he/she will do that.
Colleagues who attended the lecture also got recommendations of interesting books in which they can find inspiration for their classes.
The lecture ended with a conclusion on the importance of emotional intelligence and its more frequent application in teaching. Both students and teachers would feel the benefits of its introduction into teaching, as Professor Jovičić showed through her examples.
